Hist, written by C.J Dennis, published in the early 20th century is a very humorous poem. We were extremely impressed with the funny expressions used to describe different things.

Hist is a poem about 2 people walking in the park during the night, who are constantly getting scared of different animals in the park. After many frightening experiences finally reach their destination, home.


We immensely enjoyed this fantastic poem and recommend it to anyone who is interested in great poems like this one. Hist is written by Clarence Michael James Stanislaus otherwise known as C.J Dennis who is known worldwide for his famous poems. He was born in 7th September 1876 and died in 22nd June 1938. His poem was published in 1921 when he was 45 in a book called the Book for Kids.

Hist is about kids in a park at night. It is very dark and the children get scared from the animals. They find there way out from the light in the house and the smell of supper in there house, they then go towards the light and find there way home. The animals they see are a cat, frog, possum, which they get scared from As they make strange noises and come out of the dark.
Some noises they hear from the animals are Mo poke and Kok korrock.

The poem is set in the forest with kids in the dark.
