"My Country" by Dorothea Mackellar
Today we listened to the poem, "My Country", published in 1908 by Dorothea Mackellar while she was living back in England. It describes her love of Australia and how she misses it. The poem is full of descriptive language.
Our task for this week is to draw a picture using the Paint programme of something we imagine when we think of our country - Australia.

Poetry and poets
Today we discovered the tools a poet might use to compose poems. We talked about
inspiration
motivation
words
sounds
rhyme
rhythm
alliteration
simile
metaphor
adjectives
adverbs
A poet does not always need a pen and paper as sometimes he creates his poems in his head. Poems can be either rhyming or free verse.
